Conditions We Treat
Hand or Wrist Injuries or Disorders
Hand or wrist injuries or disorders can be due to an injury, overuse, or chronic health condition. Common hand and wrist injuries and disorders include carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoarthritis, tendinitis, and disorders of the fingers and thumb. Treatment will depend on the specific issue with the hand, but may include using the R.I.C.E. (rest, ice, compression, elevation) method, wearing a brace or splint, or buddy taping fingers for additional support.
Muscle, Tendon or Joint Disorders of the Shoulder
The shoulder is made up of three bones and several joints, tendons, and ligaments that work together to provide a full range of motion. There are several muscle, tendon, and joint disorders of the shoulder that can affect how well the shoulder functions, such as tendinitis, bursitis, impingement syndrome, arthritis, and frozen shoulder.
Nerve Root Compression With Radiating Pain
Nerve root compression can often result in pain that radiates to other parts of the body. The most common manifestation of radiating pain from the nerve root is sciatica, in which pain radiates along the sciatica nerve, which runs down the back of the leg to the foot.
Scoliosis is a sideways, or "S," curvature of the spine that occurs most often during the growth spurt just before puberty. While scoliosis may be caused by serious medical conditions such as cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, the cause of most scoliosis is unknown, and when mild, typically require minimal or no treatment.
Shoulder or Elbow Injuries or Disorders
There are many types of shoulder and elbow injuries and disorders, which can be due to overuse, sudden injury, or aging. Examples of these injuries and disorders include tennis elbow, elbow bursitis, rotator cuff tears, shoulder impingement, frozen shoulder, shoulder instability, and shoulder or elbow arthritis.
Spinal instability, also known as lumbar instability, is a condition in which there is a greater range of motion than is normal between two vertebrae. This typically occurs when a disc has degenerated to the point that it becomes unstable and can no longer support that area of the spine.
