Conditions We Treat
Nausea or vomiting
Nausea is a feeling of discomfort in the stomach that can occur on its own or precede vomiting. Vomiting is the forcible act of voluntarily or involuntarily emptying the contents of the stomach through the mouth. Nausea and vomiting can be caused by a number of things, such as illness, motion sickness, pregnancy, and a migraine.
A nosebleed is when there is blood loss from the tiny blood vessels located in the tissue that lines the inside of the nose. Nosebleeds are common and are typically not serious. Causes can include nasal dryness, allergies, the nose blowing that comes with colds and sinusitis, chemical irritants, inhaling drugs through the nose, blood-thinning medications, and an injury to the nose or face.
A seizure is a burst of uncontrolled electrical activity between brain cells (neurons or nerve cells) that causes temporary anomalies in muscle tone or movements (stiffness, twitching or limpness), behaviors, sensations or states of awareness. Treatments include but are not limited to medication, surgery, and a specialized diet.
Insect bites are the result of being bit by an insect or a spider. In some cases, these bites are harmless. In others, they may cause a reaction as the immune system responds to the bit. This often results in a raised, itchy area on the skin. In more serious cases, an insect or spider bite can result in a serious allergic reaction or the insect can inject a venom that is harmful.
Stings occur when the skin is pierced by the stinger of certain insects, such as bees and wasps. When the stinger breaks the skin, it injects venom into the body. This causes a mild reaction in most people that results in a raised, itchy bump. However, stings can be dangerous for people who are allergic to them.
