Bladder and Other Infections

UTIs can affect any part of the urinary tract, including the urethra, ureters, bladder, or in more serious cases, the kidneys. A bladder infection is a UTI that only affects the bladder.

Broken Bones

Colds and Flu

The symptoms of flu can include feverish/chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches and fatigue. Cold symptoms are usually milder than the symptoms of flu.

Cuts, Burns and Other Minor Injuries

A cut is a break or opening in the skin. It is also called a laceration. A cut may be deep, smooth, or jagged. A burn is tissue damage caused by heat, chemicals, electricity, sunlight, or nuclear radiation.

Ear Infections

Ear infections occur when a bacteria or viruses affects the ear. Ear infections can be chronic or acute.

Fever or Flu-Like Symptoms

Some common fever or flu-like symptoms may include chills, muscles aches, headache, fatigue, runny nose, and cough.

Insect Bites

Insect bites are the result of being bit by an insect or a spider. In some cases, these bites are harmless. In others, they may cause a reaction as the immune system responds to the bit. This often results in a raised, itchy area on the skin. In more serious cases, an insect or spider bite can result in a serious allergic reaction or the insect can inject a venom that is harmful.

Mild Asthma

Asthma is a long-term disease that causes swelling and sensitivity in the airways. When certain substances are inhaled, they can irritate the airways (also called bronchioles) and result in tightening of the muscles around the airways. This makes breathing very difficult.

Rashes and Skin Irritations

Rashes and skin irritations appear on the skin as patches of skin that appear red, bumpy or scaly, and they may be itchy. They can be caused by many different things, such as a viral illness or contact with an allergen like poison ivy or poison oak.

Respiratory Illnesses

Respiratory illnesses and diseases are conditions that affect the function of the lungs. Examples of respiratory conditions include asthma, pneumonia, allergies, tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis, chronic bronchitis, and lung cancer.

Seasonal Allergies

Seasonal allergies, also referred to as allergic rhinitis, may occur seasonally or year-round. Diagnosis involves history-taking, examination of the nasal passages, and sometimes skin testing. Symptoms of seasonal allergies include sneezing, runny nose, and red, watery, and itchy eyes.

Sinus Infections

Sinus infections are the result of a bacterial or viral infection that invades the sinuses, resulting in sinus and nasal congestion, sinus pain and headaches, a runny nose, and fever.

Sprains and Strains

Sprains and strains are common injuries, particularly in athletes and other physically active people. A sprain occurs when the ligaments that hold the bones together at a joint become overstretched or torn. A strain occurs when the muscles and or tendons become overstretched or torn.

Upset Stomach and Diarrhea

Upset stomach and diarrhea are terms to describe abdominal discomfort and the production of watery stools. Stomach upset can be in the form of nausea, burning, gassiness, bloating, or feeling full soon after starting to eat. The most common causes of an upset stomach and diarrhea are a viral or bacterial illness or food poisoning.
