Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is a treatment that uses drugs to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing.

Antibiotic Therapy

Antibiotic therapy provides activity at the site of infection and should exceed the amount needed to inhibit the growth of the bacteria involved or kill the bacteria.

Blood Transfusions and Vaccinations

A blood transfusion is a procedure in which whole blood or parts of blood are put into a patient's bloodstream through a vein. A vaccine stimulates your immune system to produce antibodies.

Fluids for Dehydration

Dehydration must be treated by replenishing the fluid level in the body. Some dehydration patients will require intravenous fluids in order to rehydrate.

Side-Effect-Prevention Treatment

Side-effect-prevention treatment is treatment designed to minimize the side effects that result from medical treatment, such as treatment for cancer. Side effect treatments can include things like adjustments to diet, drinking enough water, taking medication for nausea and vomiting, and splitting the treatment up into more rounds of smaller doses.

Central Line Draws/Dressing Changes

When compared to a typical IV line, a central line is larger, can stay in place longer, can deliver fluids at a greater volume, and allows blood to be drawn easier. Dressing change is the cleansing and covering of a wound.

Infusion Education

Infusion education is aimed at educating patients on how to self-administer infusion therapy once they have been discharged from the hospital. This helps reduce the number of calls patients make with questions about their therapy and it reduces the number of emergency visits and readmittances.

Plasmapheresis

Plasmapheresis is the process of removing a person's blood plasma, treating it or replacing it with a saline or albumin solution, and returning it to the body. This is done to remove destructive antibodies from the plasma and can be used to treat a number of autoimmune disorders.

Radiation Oncology

Radiation oncology is a medical specialty that is an essential part of cancer treatment. It uses high energy x rays most commonly delivered through a linear accelerator.
